MY TAKE

I heard an acoustic (pos­si­bly live) ver­sion of this song on 105.9 The River’s Acoustic After Dark pro­gram two nights ago. This pro­gram is seri­ously the bane of my exis­tence because they play amaz­ing ver­sions of songs ALL THE TIME, and never say what they are, who’s singing it, when it was recorded, what album it’s on, noth­ing, nada, zilch. I can often tell that it’s not the orig­i­nal artist or that it’s a live record­ing, but am often left dis­ap­pointed after about an hour on ama­zon and iTunes because I can never find exactly the track this dumb/ awe­some radio sta­tion chose to tempt me with. And I’ve emailed them on three sep­a­rate occa­sions ask­ing for playlists and more infor­ma­tion, but I never hear back. I used to be in touch with the DJ’s all the time back when I was lis­ten­ing to Detroit metro-area radio, it was a nice, sym­bi­otic rela­tion­ship, so it’s espe­cially frus­trat­ing now to be ignored and for my ques­tions about songs to be deemed “not impor­tant enough”.

This spe­cific time, at least they said Chris­tine McVie was the per­former, I’m usu­ally left guess­ing there. And I can safely say from lis­ten­ing on youtube.com to many live per­for­mances of this song that the one the radio sta­tion played was an early record­ing, as she sounded younger than she does in 90’s and 00’s live con­certs. I’m think­ing it is a record­ing around the time when Fleet­wood Mac in their hey­day. Wikipedia tells me that “Song­bird” is used as the encore of many Fleet­wood Mac con­certs, and since it was off an early album, Rumours (1977), that leaves the world pretty much wide open  in the 1970’s or 1980’s when this ver­sion I heard could be from. The worst part is that i don’t know if it’s stu­dio acoustic or live.

So, here’s what I’ve got for you: no infor­ma­tion about album, year, no video of the actual per­for­mance I am refer­ring to, no noth­ing. ENJOY YOUR NOTHING!!
