There isn’t much information about Matt Andersen on the internet; most likely because he is a local artist. He’s also one of the most engaging personalities that I have ever seen live. Hence, a majority of the information in this description is going to be from what I personally know of Matt. He was born in Perthandover, New Brunswick, he went to majored in Music at a post secondary education.

He began his career in 2002 in the band, FLAT TOP, which was a generally successful band around the Maritimes. Matt began to play solo acoustic shows by himself, doing a tiny bit of touring, and playing Wednesdays at Stayner Wharf in Halifax. His fan base began to grow and he started getting invites to play at Country and Blues festivals around the Maritimes. He released his first EP, One Size never fits, and won a few awards. From there, he released two live cd, Solo at Sessions and Live at Liberty House, both winning over the critics and countless fans.

I have been to be about 10 Matt Andersen shows, and that’s only because thats the only chance I’ve ever been able to see him. His shows are awesome, he has such a connection with the crowd that I don’t see with other artists. His voice is unique; one second he is honey pitched, hitting high notes that most of can only dream of, next second he is hitting low blues nows and belting out as loud as possible. His guitar skills are great too; he plays both acoustic and electric guitar, and it’s not unusual to see him play slide guitar. He is also no stranger to solos, some Matt Andersen solos (by himself) have lasted over 7 minutes.

Recently he has finished a tour across Europe, and recently recorded an album with Eric Clapton’s back up band.
