- The song is not an orig­i­nal by Heart; it is a cover. It first appeared on a pet project by com­posers Billy Stein­berg and Tom Kelly’s called I-Ten, Tak­ing a Cold Look in 1983. It was later recorded by John Sta­mos in his role as Gino Minelli, on the orig­i­nal sound­track of the CBS sit­com Dreams in 1984. Heart made it a hit in 1987. Twenty years later, Céline Dion recorded it for her album Tak­ing Chances.

- “Alone” is Heart’s biggest hit, spend­ing three weeks at num­ber 1 on the U.S. Bill­board Hot 100 and rank­ing num­ber 2 on the Bill­board Year-End Top Pop Sin­gles of 1987.

MY TAKE

I just watched tonight’s episode of Glee, and there was a fan­tas­tic scene with Kristin Chenoweth [eek! I love her!] & Matthew Mor­ri­son doing karaoke to this song. A-mazing. I can’t believe I for­got to include this song in my ear­lier Heart-loving blog about “Barracuda”.
